Quick and simple mushroom dish. Perfect dish to serve with Chapati and Rice

Mushroom Masala

Ingredients to make Mushroom Masala

  • Button mushrooms - 500 gms
  • onion - 2 (small chopped)
  • green chillies (finely chopped) - 2
  • ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Tbsp
  • cumin powder - 2 tsp
  • coriander powder - 2 tsp
  • red chilli powder - 1 tsp (as per taste)
  • tomato puree - 2 tablespoons
  • oil - 2 Tbsp
  • salt to taste
  • Dill leaves to garnish

How to make Mushroom Masala

  1. Clean the mushrooms by dipping them in water and cutting them in halves.
  2. In a pan heat some oil and fry the onions till translucent, don't let them brown. Add in the Ginger Garlic Paste and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Add in the cumin seeds, coriander powder and red chilli powder, change the heat to low and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add in the sliced mushrooms, tomato puree and salt. Stir till the masala begins to coat the mushrooms.
  5. Add 2-3 tablespoons of water, cover with the lid and let it cook for 5 minutes or till the mushroom is tender.
  6. Garnish with chopped dill and serve hot.
