Ingredients to make Egg appam

  • Raw rice 3 cups
  • Idli rice 1 cup
  • urad dal 1/2 cup
  • fenugreek seed 1/4 cup
  • Poha 1/4 cup
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • egg 4

How to make Egg appam

  1. Soak raw rice and idli rice for 4 hours .soak fenugreek separately for 4 hours. Soak urab dal as same idli rice and fenugreek .soak poha for 5 minutes..drain the water and grind the dal fenugreek poha and keep it them aside . Then grind the rice into smooth batter.
  2. Add the urad dal batter to the rice batter and mix them well and allow them to ferment for 5-6 hours.
  3. It rises well and the batter is ready for making appam
  4. Take appam batter into a bowl and add salt . Mix well.
  5. Heat appam pan on low heat pour a ladle of batter in the center . Swirl the pan in circular direction to make a lace.cover and let it cook in low heat for few seconds . Crack an agg in the center of the appam.
  6. Season the egg with salt and pepper. Cover and cook for a minute in low heat.
  7. The whites should be cooked but the yolk should still be runny.

My Tip:

If the batter is thick it wont cook properly in the center so adjust accordingly.
