Ingredients to make Chana dal vada with the crunch of coconut and onion

  • 1 cup soaked and ground chana dal /bengal gram
  • 1/2 cup grated fresh nariyal /coconut or desiccated coconut /dried coconut powder
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • Few chopped curry leaves
  • Few chopped coriender leaves
  • 1 to 2 chopped green chillies
  • 1 tbsp besan/gram flour
  • salt 1 tsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1/4 tsp

How to make Chana dal vada with the crunch of coconut and onion

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl except salt, keep aside.
  2. Add salt at the time of frying.
  3. For binding the batter, add besan gradually.
  4. Take small portion from the batter and give it a shape by making a hole in the centre.
  5. Deep fry in a hot oil on a medium flame till golden brown. Strain out on a tissue paper.
  6. Serve with chutney or ketchup.
