Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chicken 500gm
  2. Onion (chopped) 1 no
  3. Tomato (chopped) 1 no
  4. Coconut 1/2 no
  5. Cumin 1/4 teaspoon
  6. Turmeric powder 1/4
  7. Ginger 1/2 inch piece
  8. Garlic 2 flakes
  9. Poppy seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Cinnamon 1/2 inch piece
  11. Green chillies (chopped) 3 no
  12. Pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Oil half cup

Instructions

  1. Wash and clean chicken. Add salt and mix well.keep aside.
  2. Grind cumin, turmeric, ginger,garlic, poppy seeds to a fine paste in a mixer grinder.Cashew nuts can be used instead of poppy seeds.
  3. Cut Coconut into small pieces and grind in a mixer by adding little water.Make 3 extractions of Coconut milk and keep it separate.
  4. Heat oil in a thick bottomed kadhai and fry chopped onion on a medium fire.
  5. Add chicken, ground spices,cinnamon, pepper powder, salt green chillies, chopped tomato, add second and third extractions of Coconut milk
  6. Cook on a low flame till chicken is tender and gravy is thick and oil comes out.
  7. Now add first extraction of Coconut milk and bring to boil and continue to cook on low flame for 5 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat.
  9. Serve hot with chapati or any variety of rice
