Chilli Chicken

Ingredients to make Chilli Chicken

  • 350 gm boneless chicken
  • 1 egg
  • 2 lemons
  • 1 cup maida (all purpose flour)
  • 1/2 cup corn flour
  • 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • oil for deep frying
  • 2 cups onions, thickly sliced
  • 2 tablespoon green chillies, thickly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped ginger and garlic
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 2 tablespoon red chilli sauce
  • Minced spring onions and green chillies for garnishing

How to make Chilli Chicken

  1. Clean and cut the chicken pieces into bite-sized cubes. Marinate the boneless chicken with, ginger - garlic paste, lemon juice, salt and egg. Let the chicken sit for about 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil for deep frying. Mix the all purpose flour (maida) and corn flour. Coat the chicken pieces in flour and gently drop in the oil.
  3. Fry on medium heat until golden brown. Set aside to drain.
  4. Prepare sauce for chilli chicken. In a wok add oil, garlic, ginger, green chilli and onions.
  5. Saute until the onions turn transparent and soft.
  6. Add the soya sauce, vinegar, red chilli sauce and tomato ketchup. Saute for 2 more minutes.
  7. Once the sauce thickens, add the fried chicken pieces and mix it well. Let the sauce coat the chicken pieces.
  8. Garnish with slit green chillies and spring onions.
