Nobody will be able to think about a Bengali kitchen without posto. Paneer aloo posto is a paneer potato curry prepared with a thick paste of posto or poppy seed.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Paneer cubes 200 gm
  2. Potato 1 medium size
  3. Poppy seeds (adjust as per your need)
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Sugar 1/2 tsp
  6. Mustard oil 1 tbsp
  7. Green chilies 3 to 4
  8. Onion 2 medium size

Instructions

  1. Soak poppy seeds in lukewarm water for 20 minutes and then make a thick paste, add one or two green chilies while making the paste.
  2. Wash potato and cut into small cubes.
  3. Now heat oil in a pan, add onion slices, after a while add the potato cubes and start frying on a medium flame till potatoes soften.
  4. Add salt to taste and add green chilies (optional).
  5. Add one cup of water, cover the lid and cook on a low flame till potatoes soften completely.
  6. Add poppy seed paste and mix properly. After that, add paneer cubes, mix thoroughly and cook for a while. Add a little bit of water if needed. Add sugar.
  7. According to your choice, adjust your gravy taste and consistency.
  8. Serve hot.
