ABOUT Kadabu RECIPE

This is a south indian sweet dish which is made during ganesha festival.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. For the dough : 1 cup rice flour
  2. 1 cup thin semolina
  3. 1 coconut, grated
  4. 1 cup sugar
  5. 1 cup mixed dry fruits (Almonds, Cashewnuts, Raisins)
  6. 1 cup maida
  7. 1 tbsp Ghee
  8. 1/2 cup chutney dal

Instructions

  1. In a bowl add maida, rice flour, sooji and a pinch of salt. Make a dough with the help of warm water and wrap it with a muslin cloth, keep aside for an hour.
  2. In a kadai, add ghee and fry the dry fruits. Add grated coconut and mix well till the raw smell goes. Add sugar and then add the chutney dal. Mix well.
  3. Keep this mixture aside to cool.
  4. On a rolling board, take a piece/pinch of dough and roll it like a roti.
  5. Place the cooled stuffing in the centre and give a shape of modak or any desired shape.
  6. Steam it for 10 minutes. Serve with pouring ghee on top.
