Ingredients to make Lauki Halwa

  • lauki / doodhi
  • Milk
  • sugar as per taste
  • ghee
  • Dry fruits for garnishing (almonds & Cashews)
  • raisins a few
  • cardamom powder
  • Few drops of green colour

How to make Lauki Halwa

  1. Wash and peel the lauki.
  2. Grate it well. Squeeze out the excess water as much as possible.
  3. Heat a pan, add grated lauki to it. Simmer for a few minutes allow the water to evaporate. Add ghee and mix well. Roast for a few minutes.
  4. Add milk and let it cook for some time. When all the milk get mixed, add sugar and at this moment add 2-3 teaspoons of ghee to give richness to the halwa.
  5. Add cardamom powder, dryfruits and raisins. And few drops of green colour.
  6. MIx well and serve hot.

My Tip:

Removing excess water from Lauki, which helps make the halwa rich in taste else it tastes watery.
