About Sev Khamani Recipe

Sev Khamni is popular Gujarati Snacks from Surat area. Sev Khamni is traditionally made from Dhokla and also known as Amiri Khaman. Seasoning adds classic tastes in Sev Khamni. This gram lentils snacks is juicy, sweet and tangy. Normally, Sev Khamni is quick breakfast recipe but can match with regular Gujarati dish or as evening snacks also.

Sev Khamani

Ingredients to make Sev Khamani

  • 250gms chana dal
  • salt to taste
  • a pinch of turmeric
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp ginger –Chili paste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • water according to requirement
  • 250 gm  Sev
  • 2 tbsp pomegranate seeds.
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves

How to make Sev Khamani

  1. Soak chana dal for 5-6 hour and drain water from it.
  2. Grind coarsely. Add salt and turmeric.
  3. Now take in steel plate and grease it with oil. Fill it with the mixture and steam for 15-20 mind
  4. Now heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds in it.
  5. When it is spluttering, add ginger chili paste, salt, sugar and lemon juice in it.
  6. Sprinkle a little water on it while its cooking.
  7. Stir well for 5-8 mins. Serve hot garnished with Sev, pomegranate seeds & Coriander leaves.

My Tip:

Add Garlic paste during tempering to add more taste.
