Bhapot diya pitha

Ingredients to make Bhapot diya pitha

  • rice powder 500 gm
  • water as required
  • Grated coconut 1
  • Sugar/ jaggery 200 gm
  • oil to grease the steamer 5 ml
  • salt 1 pinch

How to make Bhapot diya pitha

  1. Mix salt with rice powder.
  2. Add water, a little at a time and mix well to make a thick batter.
  3. Do not add too much water. Now cover the mixture again
  4. In another pan add grated coconut and sugar/ jaggery together and fry for few minutes till sugar get dissolves.
  5. Remove the pan from the fire and let it cool little bit.
  6. Now remove the cover of rice mixture and check the consistency again. If required add little water.
  7. Now in a idli/ dhokla steamer grease the base and fill half and than put a layer of coconut sugar mixture.
  8. Now put another layer of the mixture of rice powder over it.
  9. Fill all moulds. And steam it for 10-15 min.
  10. Once done , remove from the steamer.
  11. Serve with curd or cream or milk as per your choice.

My Tip:

You can replace sugar/ jaggery with condensed milk for a richer flavour.
