Ingredients to make Chocolate gelato ice cream

  • Plain cooking Chocolate - 1/4 cup
  • milk - 1 cup
  • cream - 3/4 th cup
  • sugar - 1/4 th cup
  • egg yolks - 2
  • Cocoa Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Coffee powder - 1/2 tsp

How to make Chocolate gelato ice cream

  1. Melt the milk with chocolate on a very low flame, make sure that milk does not boil, just enough heat should be given to melt the chocolate in it.
  2. Meanwhile whisk the egg yolks with sugar till it forms like a yellowish paste.
  3. Now slowly add the hot milk+chocolate mixture into the yolk mixture while whisking it so that it does not curdle.
  4. Once mixed, pour back the mixture into the saucepan, and cook on a low flame, making sure it does not boil otherwise chocolate will burn.
  5. Now add the cocoa powder and coffee powder (coffee is added to intensify the chocolate flavour). Cook till the mixture is thickened and coats the back of the spoon. Cool it for 15-20 minutes .
  6. Now whisk the cream till it forms stiff peaks. Fold in the chocolate mixture. Pour this mixture into a box and keep it I'm refrigerator.
  7. After an hour, just mix the mixture with a spoon and freeze again. Do this twice and then serve when set.
