Ingredients to make Multi purpose idli/dosa batter

  • Raw rice 2 cups
  • urad dal 1 cup
  • methi seeds a few (Optional)
  • salt to taste

How to make Multi purpose idli/dosa batter

  1. Soak raw rice, urad dal and methi together for 4 hours.
  2. Grind to a smooth paste. Add salt while grinding.
  3. After grinding keep overnight for fermentation.

My Tip:

If you want to keep the batter for 3 or more days then divide the batter in three different air-tight containers and keep the container for 8 hrs fermentation which you are using the next day. Keep the other two containers for only 4 hours and then refrigerate. It ferments in the fridge and stays fresh. You can prepare variety foods everyday with this fresh batter.
