Ingredients to make Boiled Microwave Potato

  • potatoes - 500 gms

How to make Boiled Microwave Potato

  1. Wash and clean the potatoes.
  2. Pat dry them with a clean kitchen towel.
  3. With a knife make 3-4 slits around the potatoes.
  4. Take a polythene plastic bag and place the potatoes in it and tie a knot at the top.
  5. Every Microwave has an Auto Menu for Potatoes. My IFB oven has that setting at No.4. When you select that setting, there are several options depending upon the weight of the potatoes. As I had 500 gm potatoes, the timer starts automatically. In my microwave, the 450 gms setting has a timer of 6 minutes and 30 seconds.
  6. When the timer turns off, do not open the door immediately. Let the potatoes rest a little otherwise the hot air coming from the packet will burn you.
  7. Peel the potatoes and grate them or cut them in pieces. I cut them in pieces as I was making sukhe aloo.

My Tip:

Wait for at least 5 mins before opening the packet of potatoes as the hot air which is inside the polythene may burn your fingers. When you transfer the potatoes on a plate, place them on the opposite side or turn the other side up. This will help the potatoes to cool easily. When you use grated potatoes in a paratha, this filling will not come out on rolling. You can use it as a filling for sandwiches as well.
