About Chilli Con Carne Recipe

It is a spicy Mexican stew containing chili peppers, meat, tomatoes and beans.

Chilli Con Carne

Ingredients to make Chilli Con Carne

  • 500g Ground Mutton/chicken/Beef
  • 400g Kidney Beans(boiled rajma)
  • 400g tomatoes chopped into halves
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 tbp Plain flour
  • 2 tbsp olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Ground coriander
  • 2 tbs tomato paste
  • 2 garlic cloves chopped
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 bay leaf
  • A few coriander leaves
  • 1 tblsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • Cheese (for garnish)

How to make Chilli Con Carne

  1. Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook until softened.
  2. Add chilli powder, cocoa powder, sugar cumin, coriander, bay leaf, flour and meat. Cook and stir until meat has browned.
  3. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, beans and water and stir until combined. Bring to the boil
  4. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour or until meat is tender.
  5. Serve topped with cheese and coriander leaves.

My Tip:

Serve with sour cream, salsa and some nachos for a complete meal.
