My elder masi (maternal aunt) recipe, a spicy tangy mouth freshner.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Sugar - 1cup
  2. Water - 1/4 Cup
  3. Indian long pepper (pipli) powder - haft tsp
  4. Cumin seed pwd - half tsp
  5. Dry ginger pwd - a pinch
  6. Black pepper pwd - halt tsp
  7. Nutmeg pwd - a pinch
  8. Peppermint - less than a pinch
  9. Clarified butter (ghee) - for greasing

Instructions

  1. First take a plate, grease it with few drops of ghee. Take pan heat it on medium flame, add sugar and water, stir continuously, add all spices except salt after sugar disolve. Cook it till it becomes thick syrup.(about 5 minutes)
  2. Add less than a pinch of peppermint. Mix well, and put the drop on the plate to see it is sticky than spread the entire thick syrup on greased plate evenly.
  3. Let it stay there until it cools. (About two minutes).
  4. Than cut it into small pieces with the help of knife.
