Coconut wheat Poli

Ingredients to make Coconut wheat Poli

  • wheat flour – 2 cups
  • turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • salt – pinch
  • oil – 3 tsp
  • ghee – 2 tsp
  • FOR FILLING: Grated coconut – 1 cup
  • Grated jaggery – 1 cup
  • cardamom powder – 1 tsp

How to make Coconut wheat Poli

  1. In a mixing bowl take wheat flour, salt and turmeric powder. Add water little by little and mix well to form soft dough.
  2. Add oil to it and knead for two minutes. Cover the dough and keep aside for half an hour.
  3. Heat pan, add jaggery and little water until it immerse. Let the jaggery dissolve, filter to remove impurities and boil again in pan.
  4. Add coconut and cardamom powder, stir well in medium flame until it becomes thick and mixed well. This is the filling.
  5. Take small ball size dough, place it in banana leaf or any cover greased with oil.
  6. Spread the dough into circle with hand, place the filling at center and bring edges of the circle towards the center and fold over to cover the entire filling.
  7. Flatten the stuffed dough using hands. Repeat the process with remaining dough and filling.
  8. Heat pan, add rolled poli to it. Apply little ghee and allow the poli to cook in low flame.
  9. Gently flip the poli and cook it until color changes slightly.
  10. The yummy and healthy coconut poli is ready to be served.
