Raw Banana Cutlets

Ingredients to make Raw Banana Cutlets

  • 3 Large raw bananas
  • 3-4 tbsp of peanuts
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2-3 Green Chilies
  • 2 tbsp of fresh coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 1/2 inch piece of ginger
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 -3 tbsp of fresh lemon juice
  • Rock salt ( sendha namak) to taste
  • 1 tsp ghee for shallow frying

How to make Raw Banana Cutlets

  1. Wash the raw Bananas and trim both their ends. Place them in a container and steam them in a pressure cooker for 15 minutes .
  2. After cooling , peel them and mash them well with a spoon or fork.
  3. Roast the Peanuts on a heated skillet , remove their skin by rubbing and grind them into coarse powder.
  4. Make a paste of ginger , cumin seeds, green chili and coriander. Add this paste along with the peanut powder to the mashed Bananas.
  5. Add Salt , black Pepper powder and lemon juice. Mix all this very well and make into a dough.
  6. Divide the dough into 9 equal parts and shape them either into round or oval tikkis.
  7. Spread the Sesame seeds on a plate . Tap the tikkis on these Sesame seeds so that they coat well on both sides of the tikkis.
  8. On a heated non stick skillet sprinkle just 1 tsp of ghee and shallow fry the tikkis from both the sides until golden brown.
  9. Serve hot with sweet curd or any other dip of your choice. I have served it with sweet peanut chutney.

My Tip:

Make sure you do not make a fine powder of the roasted peanuts as the chunks give a nice crunchy bite to the cutlets.
