ABOUT Sardine Curry RECIPE

Tin sardines cooked with Indian spices.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. One tin sardines
  2. chopped onion - 1 big
  3. Chopped Tomatoes - 1 big
  4. Ginger paste 1/2 tea spoon
  5. garlic paste - 1/2 tea spoon
  6. Salt - to taste
  7. Turmeric - 1/2 tea spoon
  8. Curry leaves - few
  9. Green Chillies - 2
  10. Coriander powder - 1 tea spoon
  11. Cumin powder - 1 tea spoon
  12. Red chilli powder - 1/2 tea spoon
  13. Mustard seeds - 1 tea spoon
  14. Fish fry masala (optional) - 1/2 tea spoon
  15. Water - 1/4 to 1/2 cup (as per gravy consistency required)

Instructions

  1. Pour oil from sardines tin into a flat bottomed non stick pan and heat it.
  2. Add mustard seeds and allow them to crackle.
  3. Add curry leaves and green chillies.
  4. Add onion, ginger, garlic and tomatoes.
  5. Cook on low flame till onion becomes soft.
  6. Add all the dry masalas and salt.
  7. Add the sardines from tin.
  8. Pour very little water so that u get a thick gravy. Cover and cook for 2 minutes.
  9. Sardine curry tastes very nice with steamed rice.
