Ingredients to make Karela Kachri

  • Karela 1/2 kg
  • tomatoes 4 big size
  • green chillies 4
  • salt to taste
  • Red pepper power to taste
  • turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  • sugar pinch
  • lemon juice 1/2 tsp
  • oil for frying
  • coriander for garnishing

How to make Karela Kachri

  1. First peel all karelas and wash it with salted water.
  2. Now cut karela into round shape like onion rings.
  3. Now take a pan for deep frying. Add mustard oil and fry karela.
  4. When karela rings become crispy, switch off the gas.
  5. Take another pan and add little oil. Now add tomatoes and green chilies. Saute for 3-4 mins.
  6. Add salt, red pepper, turmeric and garam masalas. Stir it for another 3-4 mins.
  7. When thick tomato gravy is ready. Add pinch of sugar and lemon juice. Saute for min.
  8. Now add karela and stir for 2 mins.
  9. Karela kachri is ready to serve with poori or chapati.
  10. Garnish with coriander.

My Tip:

Add onions for more taste.
