Nellikai Pickle

Ingredients to make Nellikai Pickle

  • Gooseberry 250 gms
  • mustard seed 1/2 tsp
  • methi seed 1/2 tsp
  • Dry red chilli 2
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • hing 1/4 tsp
  • curry leaves a sprig
  • Sesame oil 1 1/2 tbsp
  • salt as per your taste
  • green chillies optional

How to make Nellikai Pickle

  1. Wash the gooseberry. Boil it in cooker, give it at least two whistles. Add salt and turmeric while boiling.
  2. In a Kadai, add oil. Once adequately heated, turn it off, add all the ingredients.
  3. Now strain the berries, add it to d mixture. Switch on the flame and fry it a bit.
  4. Your instant nellikai pickle is ready. It would taste better after a couple of days once the masala seeps in.

My Tip:

It would taste better with curd rice and kanji.
