ABOUT Nellikai Pickle RECIPE

Instant pickle, south Indian style.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Gooseberry 250 gms
  2. Mustard seed 1/2 tsp
  3. Methi seed 1/2 tsp
  4. Dry red chilli 2
  5. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  6. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  7. Hing 1/4 tsp
  8. Curry leaves a sprig
  9. Sesame oil 1 1/2 tbsp
  10. Salt as per your taste
  11. Green chillies optional

Instructions

  1. Wash the gooseberry. Boil it in cooker, give it at least two whistles. Add salt and turmeric while boiling.
  2. In a Kadai, add oil. Once adequately heated, turn it off, add all the ingredients.
  3. Now strain the berries, add it to d mixture. Switch on the flame and fry it a bit.
  4. Your instant nellikai pickle is ready. It would taste better after a couple of days once the masala seeps in.
