Daal ke Steamed Kofte

Ingredients to make Daal ke Steamed Kofte

  • Whole green moong daal 1 cup
  • asafoetida 1 tablespoon
  • Eno 1 sachet
  • oil 3 tablespoon
  • bay leaves 2
  • Garam masala 1/2 tablespoon
  • haldi powder 1/2 tablespoon
  • red chilli powder 1/2 tablespoon
  • oil for shallow frying
  • salt according to taste
  • onion 1 medium
  • ginger Garlic paste 2 tablespoon
  • tomatoes 2 medium
  • water 1 1/2 Cup

How to make Daal ke Steamed Kofte

  1. First wash the daal and soak it for up to 4 hour.
  2. Then grind it with 1 green chilly.
  3. Add asafoetida, ginger and garlic paste 1 tablespoon, salt and eno and mix it.
  4. Then steam it for 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. Once it is cooked then let it cool.
  6. Put oil in a frying pan and let it get hot in the meantime. Cut the steamed daal in square shape and fry it on medium flame from both the side till light red colour.
  7. Now take a wok, add 2 tablespoon of oil, add bay leaves, some cumin seeds and let it crackle.
  8. Now add chopped onion, cook till translucent in colour and then add ginger garlic paste, cook till raw smell goes away.
  9. Now add masala haldi powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt and cook it. Add chopped tomatoes, cook it till it forms a paste.
  10. Now add 2 cups of water, bring it to a boil and add koftas and cook it for 5 minutes on slow heat by covering with lid.
  11. Garnish with cilantro or green coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or chapati.
