Moth-Moong Dal Bada

Ingredients to make Moth-Moong Dal Bada

  • Moth daal - 1 cup
  • Yellow moong dal - 1 cup
  • coriander seeds - 1 tsp
  • salt - as per taste
  • Red chili powder - as per taste
  • Heeng - a pinch
  • oil - for frying

How to make Moth-Moong Dal Bada

  1. Wash both dal, soak it for about 2-2.5 hours. Soak both dals in one bowl.
  2. Now grind the dal but not too thin and strain the excess water from dal paste with the help of rice strainer.
  3. Now mix coriander seeds, heeng, red chilli powder and salt in to dal batter, mix it well.
  4. Heat the kadhai on the stove, add oil for frying.
  5. Now main part, take a bowl add water, keep aside, take another small bowl, cover it with muslin cloth, cover it tight, sprinkle little water on the top, keep this bowl in left hand.
  6. Dip the fingers of your right hand in the water, now take a little portion of batter from right hand, shift the batter on the muslin cloth, do press and evenly spread in a round shape.
  7. Now flip the bowl on your right hand, so the round shape of dal batter comes on your right palm, slowly shift it in hot oil, deep fry it till light golden color and cook from both sides, after that take it out on a napkin.
  8. Serve it hot with fresh mint coriander chutney.

My Tip:

If we add kasuri methi in the batter it becomes more tasty.
