ABOUT Sama Ke Chawal Ki Idli/ Dosa (Millet Idli / Dosa) RECIPE

This is a Faraali recipe in which Millet and Sago are used to make Idli and Dosa. Perfect during Navratri fasting.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Sama/millet 1 cup
  2. Sago 3/4 cup
  3. Oil as required
  4. Sendha Namak as per taste
  5. Nonstick tava for dosa and idli maker for making idlis
  6. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  7. chopped coriander leaves / curry patta as needed
  8. Grated ginger 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak sama rice / millet and sabudana separately for 3-4 hours.
  2. Drain all the water and grind both into a granular paste. Transfer the batter into a large bowl cover it and let it ferment overnight or 6-8 hours.
  3. Add sendha namak / vrat vala namak and mix gently, then pour batter into idli moulds and steam for 8-10 minutes till cooked.
  4. For Dosa: Spread batter on nonstick tawa in circular motion and make dosa and cook until dosa sides leave tawa and become golden brown.
  5. For tadka: In a wok, add oil add cumin seeds, grated ginger, finely chopped coriander or you can take curry leaves if it is allowed during fasting. Add tadka to batter before making idli and dosa.
