ABOUT Egg Halwa RECIPE

This is one of my mother's most popular recipes. It is very easy to make and tastes awesome.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 Eggs
  2. 9 tbsp sugar
  3. 2 tbsp ghee
  4. 1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder
  5. pinch of turmeric powder (for colour)
  6. chopped cashews, almonds, pistachios and raisins

Instructions

  1. Crack open the eggs in a bowl and beat using an egg beater or a whisk till frothy.
  2. Add sugar and continue beating till the sugar dissolves and bubbles are seen.
  3. Heat ghee in a pan, add the chopped cashews, almonds and pistachios and saute till they turn light golden.
  4. Add turmeric powder and saute for a few seconds.
  5. Add raisins and when they puff like a balloon, add the sugar-egg mix to this.
  6. Then add cardamom powder and continue stirring for about 10 minutes or till ghee starts separating and the raw smell of the eggs goes.
  7. Continuous stirring is essential as the halwa has a tendency to stick to the pan.
  8. When the halwa is cooked, switch off the gas, allow it to cool and transfer to serving bowls.
  9. You can serve it as it is or allow it to come to room temperature, refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours and serve cold.
