A beautiful dish that is sweet and savoury with different textures paired alongside a layer of ice cream or whipped cream, need we say more!

Cherry crumble

Ingredients to make Cherry crumble

  • Cherries - 5 cups (washed and pitted)
  • flour - 1/2 cup
  • Brown sugar - 1/4 cup
  • Rolled oats - 1/2 cup
  • butter - 1/4 cup
  • Caster sugar - 2 tbsp
  • Garnish : Ice cream or whipped cream (as per choice)

How to make Cherry crumble

  1. Preheat the oven at 180°C. In a sauce pan, add in cherries with a little water (aprox - 2 tbsp) and cook for 10 minutes on a low flame.
  2. Add in the caster sugar and continue cooking for another 5 minutes.
  3. For the Crumble- In a bowl, using only your fingertips rub butter cubes into the flour to form fine crumb like mixture. Stir in the brown sugar and oats.
  4. Take a baking dish, transfer the cooked and glazed cherries first then sprinkle the crumble mixture on top. Bake for 25 minutes, make sure it turns golden in colour.
  5. Let it cool in the dish. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
