Its adopted from chingri machh er malaikari, which is an authentic Bengali dish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Hard boiled eggs 4
  2. Onion paste 1 tbsp
  3. Ginger/garlic paste 2 tsp
  4. Tomato paste 2 tbsp
  5. Whole garam masala (green cardamom (2-3),clove (2-3),cinnamon 1 inch)
  6. Bay leaf 2/3
  7. Dry red chili 2/3
  8. Garam mashala powder 1 tsp
  9. Coconut milk 1 cup
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Sugar to taste
  12. Oil 2 tbsp
  13. Ghee 1 tbsp
  14. Green chili paste 2 tsp
  15. Kashmiri red chili powder 2 tsp
  16. Turmeric powder as required
  17. Grated coconut for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Eggs rubbed with salt and turmeric.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry them.
  3. Strain the eggs from the hot oil and keep aside.
  4. Add half of the ghee in the oil.
  5. Add whole garam masala, bay leaf and dry red chili and wait for a few seconds. Then add onion paste, cook for sometime until the onions look golden brown.
  6. After that add ginger garlic paste and cook for 1 minute.
  7. Add green chilli paste.
  8. Add turmeric powder, salt and red chilli powder and mix properly.
  9. Add tomato paste. Cook for 2/3 minutes until the oil separates from the mixture.
  10. Add sugar as required.
  11. Now add coconut milk, mix gently and add 1 cup of water and bring it to a boil.
  12. And finally add the eggs to the gravy and cover the pan and cook for 5-6 minutes.
  13. Add garam masala powder and remaining ghee.
  14. Garnish with grated coconut.
  15. Ready to serve.
