Ingredients to make Dalia Khichdi for toddlers(1+ yr)

  • 2 tsp Broken wheat(Dalia)
  • 1/4 cup moong dal
  • 1/2 tsp Grated ginger
  • 1 small tomato, chopped
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 1/4 tsp zeera
  • turmeric as needed
  • salt if adding
  • 2 Cups water
  • a pinch of hing
  • a little paneer for garnishing

How to make Dalia Khichdi for toddlers(1+ yr)

  1. Wash and soak dalia and dal together for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and add zeera, hing, ginger and tomato. Saute till soft. Now add turmeric.
  3. Add soaked dalia and dal along with the water.
  4. Close the lid of the cooker and cook for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Open the lid after pressure drops, mash well.
  6. Add a little salt if desired, garnish with grated paneer and serve.

My Tip:

Do buy unpolished dal. Always soak dal before using as it prevents colic. Do not serve dal when baby has fever, colic or other problems.Do consult your Doctor before introducing any new food to your baby.
