Beetroot Thoran

Ingredients to make Beetroot Thoran

  • Beetroot - 1 big finely chopped or grate
  • onion - 1 big finely chopped
  • garlic - 4-5 cloves finely chopped
  • roasted gram seeds( pota kadla) - 1 tbsp
  • Urad Daal - 1 tsp
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cummin Seeds - 1 tsp
  • curry leaves few sprigs
  • coconut oil as required
  • Grated cocnut - 2-3 tbsp
  • Red chillies - 3-4 nos
  • salt to taste

How to make Beetroot Thoran

  1. Heat oil, add mustard, cumin seeds, roasted gram, urad dal and fry until it turns brown in color.
  2. Add curry leaves, onion, garlic and fry until it turns little pink in color.
  3. Add beetroot, fry for 5-7 mins, add salt and mix well.
  4. Add grated coconut, give a nice mix and switch off flame.
  5. Serve hot with rice.
