Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Banana flower chopped - 2 bunch
  2. Potato (dice cut) - 4 medium sized
  3. Dessicated coconut - half
  4. Turmeric Powder 1 tsp
  5. cumin powder 1 tablespoon
  6. Coriander powder 1 tablespoon
  7. Green chili paste 1/2 tablespoon
  8. Ginger paste 1 tablespoon
  9. White cumin seeds 1/2 tablespoon
  10. Bay leaves 5
  11. Cinnamon 4-5
  12. Gram seeds 50 gm
  13. Salt as per taste
  14. sugar as per taste
  15. Mustard oil as required
  16. ghee as required
  17. Garam Masala 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Wash the banana flower and drain them properly. Mix it with little turmeric powder and water and soak for about an hour.
  2. Add it to a pressure cooker and cook till 1 whistle.
  3. Next mix it with ginger, green chili paste, turmeric, cumin, coriander powder and little salt and keep separate.
  4. Heat oil in a wok and temper with white cumin powder, bay leaves and cinnamon.
  5. Fry the potatoes with little turmeric powder and salt in it, till it's light golden.
  6. Add the coconut and gram seeds and cook till it is all golden brown.
  7. Next add the banana flower mixture and cook till all the water released by it dries out.
  8. When done, add little water, salt and sugar as per taste and cook with a covered lid for few minutes and then without the lid.
  9. When all water is dried out and the dish becomes oily, turn off gas and add garam masala and ghee on top.
  10. Mix well after 2 minutes and serve hot with rice.
