ABOUT Ras vada RECIPE

A traditional bengali recipe, learnt from mum... simple yet just delicious..

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Urad dal - 1 cup
  2. Baking soda - 1/8 th tsp
  3. Sugar - 2 cups
  4. Water - 1 cup
  5. Refined oil

Instructions

  1. Soak the Urad dal overnight or for atleast 8 hours.
  2. Drain and make a paste of it in a blender, with little water.
  3. Whisk it with hand and add the baking soda.
  4. Leave it for 2 hours, so that the batter slightly rises.
  5. While that is happening, make a sugar syrup with the sugar and water, boil it till you get the "Do taar wali chashni". Keep aside.
  6. Now heat ample amount of refined oil in a kadhai, and spoon the batter to make small balls into the oil.
  7. Deep fry them and strain them into the sugar syrup.
  8. Serve.
