ABOUT Pathaka Bhakarwadi RECIPE

Not only does the dish resemble bhoo chakra(one of thr fire crackers that revolves on the ground when lit) but, flavours explode witj every single bite of Bhakarwadi. Perfect combination with the varietiey of sweets for Diwali :relaxed:

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Dry Coconut 1/2 cup
  2. Sev 1/4 cup
  3. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  4. Sugar 1 tbsp
  5. Turmeric 1/4 tsp
  6. Dry mango powder 1/2 tsp
  7. Fennel Seeds 1 tsp
  8. Coriander powder 1/2 tsp
  9. Cumin powder 1/4 tsp
  10. Sesame seeds 1 tsp
  11. Poppy seeds 1 tsp
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Maida 1/2 cup
  14. Besan 1/2 cup
  15. oil to fry
  16. Hing just a pinch
  17. water to knead

Instructions

  1. Combine the stuffing ingredients i . e coconut , sev, chilli powder (3/4 tsp), cumin powder, coriander powder, fennel seeds, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, turmeric, dry mango powder, sugar and salt
  2. Grind the masala coarsely
  3. Collect the ground mixture into a bowl
  4. For the dough , combine maida, besan, 1/4 tsp chilli powder, pinch of turmeric, hing, salt and mix well
  5. Heat 3 tsp oil and add to the dough mixture
  6. Incorporate the oil by mixing the dough well and kneading it
  7. Cover the dough with a moist cloth and let it rest for 15 mins
  8. Divide the dough 2 large balls
  9. Flatten and roll one of the dough balls
  10. Brush oil onto the dough surface
  11. Spread the stuffing masala evenly leaving the sides
  12. Roll over tightly
  13. Pinch the sides inwards
  14. Cut the roll at 2 cm gap
  15. Deep fry the rolls in hot oil till they turn golden brown
