ABOUT Traditional Sev RECIPE

As diwali is round the corner, this is a very quick and easy dish which is loved by all kids as well adults.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 2 cups Besan/ Bengal Gram flour
  2. 1 tsp Hing/ Asafoetida
  3. 1 tsp Turmeric
  4. 2 tsp red chilly powder
  5. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  6. 1 tsp cumin powder
  7. 11/2 tsp hot cooking oil
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Water as per requirement
  10. Oil for Deep frying

Instructions

  1. Sieve the gram flour in a large bowl. Add Red chilly powder, turmeric, cumin powder, hing, coriander powder, salt and mix the ingredients nicely.
  2. Add hot oil and mix it nicely and keep it for 10 mins. Later, add water little by little and knead a soft dough.
  3. Take a sev maker, fit the thinest mold. Grease the entire inner surface with oil and put the prepared dough in the sev maker.
  4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadai over medium heat for deep frying. Hold machine over pan, turn handle of sev maker and press out thin strands into hot oil.
  5. As starnds are coming out, move the maker slowly in circular motion.
  6. Deep fry both sides for around 2 minutes on a medium flame. Repeat the same process for remaining dough. Let it cool down at room temperature before breaking into pieces.
