About Bhadang Recipe

Bhadang is a traditional Maharashtrian spicy dish. This is one of my favourite dishes during diwali as this dish is the yummiest in taste and also very easy to prepare. This is 100% no fail recipe, loved by all. This dish, i have learnt from my mom who is a wonderful cook and an inspiring woman.

Ingredients to make Bhadang

  • Churmure/ Puffed rice :: 500 gms
  • curry leaves ::10 to 11 ( this dish needs loads of curry leaves)
  • Raw peanuts :: 1/4th cup
  • turmeric :: 1 tbsp
  • red chilly powder :: 2 tbsp( you can add as per your requirement)
  • Powdered sugar :: 1 cup
  • garlic 1/2 cup( you can slice or grate or crush roughly)
  • salt to taste
  • oil :: 11/2 cup

How to make Bhadang

  1. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed big pan. Add raw peanuts and curry leaves and saute till peanuts turn golden brown.
  2. Now add garlic and fry till 2 mins so that garlic smell goes off.
  3. Now add red chilly powder, turmeric, salt and fry it on medium lower flame. Mix it nicely.
  4. Now add puffed rice/churmure little by little and mix it nicely. Mix it neatly until the churmure turn crispy.
  5. Keep on stirring so that mixture is not burning.
  6. Switch off the flame and now add powdered sugar to the mixture and mix it thoroughly and neatly.
  7. Store this in air tight container and enjoy with your guests this Diwali season.
