Ingredients to make Hilsha steamed in ash gourd leaves

  • Hilsha fish 6 pcs.
  • Turmaric powder 1/2 tsp
  • salt as per taste
  • mustard PASTE 2TBSP
  • Chopped ash gourd leaf 1/2 cup
  • Green chili paste 2 tsp
  • mustard oil 4tbsp
  • Poppy seed paste 2tbsp

How to make Hilsha steamed in ash gourd leaves

  1. Marinade the fish pieces with turmeric powder and salt. Leave it for 5min.
  2. Take a bowl. Add mustard paste, green chili paste, poppy seed paste, chopped ash gourd leaves, salt, mustard oil and mix it properly.
  3. Add the marinated fish pieces to this mixture.
  4. Steam for 30 mins in a low flame.
  5. Serve with steamed rice.

My Tip:

You can use any other edible gourd leaves or colocasia leaves. use aam kasundi instead of mustard paste for a tangy flavor.
