Ingredients to make Mutton paaya

  • Mutton paaya 8
  • oil 1 1/2 tbsp
  • onion sliced 3
  • ginger Garlic paste 2 tbsp
  • tomatoes chopped 1 (optional)
  • coriander pwdr 11/2 tbsp
  • red chilly pwdr 1 tbsp
  • turmeric pwdr 1tsp
  • Garam masala pwdr 1tsp
  • Khada masala:green cardmom 6
  • Black cardmom 3
  • cloves 6-8
  • Shahi zeera 1/2 tsp
  • Black peppercorns 10
  • cinnamon stick 1 1/2 inch
  • javitri few pieces
  • zeera 1/2tsp
  • bay leaves 2-3
  • curry leaves 10

How to make Mutton paaya

  1. Wash d paya in lukewarm water for 2-3 times or till u get clean water and d paya starts luking white
  2. Nw take a large pressure cooker . Heat oil add all d khada masala . When it starts to splutter add d paya, mix it well
  3. Nw add all d masalas , onion and tomato.mix it well
  4. Add suffiecient amount of water .about 3 cups
  5. Cover it and let it cook on medium high flame for abt 4 - 5 hours .
  6. Keep on checking after regular intervals . Also adjust water if required
  7. Once it is cooked u will see oil separating .garnish wid coriander leaves.

My Tip:

The best way to check if d paya is cooked is to check its string consistency just as v do for sugar syrup.d more sticky it is d more tasty is d paya.
