Ingredients to make Pabda fish curry (pabdar jhal)

  • Pabda fish 1/2 kg
  • kalonji seeds 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1tsp
  • Chopped green chili 2tsp
  • Chopped onion 1/3 cup
  • tomato paste 2tbsp
  • cumin powder 1tsp
  • salt as per taste
  • mustard oil 6tbsp
  • Chopped coriander leaves

How to make Pabda fish curry (pabdar jhal)

  1. Marinade the fish pieces with a pinch of turmeric powder and salt.
  2. Heat oil and fry the fish and keep aside.
  3. Add kalonji, chopped onion and fry a little.
  4. Add chopped green chili, cumin powder, salt, turmeric powder, tomato paste and a little bit water to it.. cook for 5min in a low flame.
  5. Add water and give it a nice boil.
  6. Add the fried fish pieces to the curry.
  7. When the curry becomes thicken add chopped coriander leaves.
  8. Serve with plain white rice.
