It's a Sindhi sweet delicacy which is made during festivals or marriages as giveaways.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 250 gms maida
  2. 1/2 cup curd
  3. 1/2 tsp cooking soda
  4. Salt a pinch
  5. 1/2 Cup clarified butter/ghee
  6. 1tsp jeera
  7. 1 tsp pepper coarsely pounded
  8. Saunf 1/2 tsp coarsely pounded
  9. To make sugar syrup: 2 Cups Sugar
  10. 1 Cup Water
  11. Vanilla essence Few drops
  12. Clarified butter/ghee to deep fry

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour,cooking soda,salt,clarified butter, peppercorns, jeera, saunf.
  2. Knead it with curd into a stiff dough.
  3. Don't add water while kneading.
  4. Rest it for 15 minutes.
  5. Make oblong shaped rolls (like kebabs)
  6. Heat clarified butter in a kadai and fry these rolls on low flame so that they are cooked evenly from inside, till they are golden brown and crisp.
  7. Now prepare syrup by heating water and sugar.
  8. Let this syrup have 1 string consistency.
  9. Add vanilla essence and keep aside.
  10. Drop the fried toshas in this sugar syrup.
  11. Let it soak syrup nicely.
  12. Sugar syrup will form a nice crisp layer over toshas.
  13. Garnish with chopped dry fruits and rose petals.
