ABOUT MAKKAN PEDA RECIPE

Makkan peda is a soft sweet dessert of Tamil Nadu. It's also known as Arcot sweet.

Ingredients Serving: 12

  1. 1 cup - maida
  2. 1/2 cup - unsweetened khoya
  3. A pinch of baking soda
  4. 1/4 cup - yogurt
  5. few tablespoons of mixed nuts and dates for filling
  6. Oil for frying
  7. 1 1/2 cup - sugar
  8. 1 1/2 cup - water

Instructions

  1. In a mixing add maida, khoya, baking soda and yogurt. knead it softly to make a smooth dough. Keep it aside for 15 - 20 minutes. Make lemon sized balls out of it.
  2. Put a teaspoon of the filling in each balls and shape it nicely. Deep fry them in hot oil and keep it aside.
  3. Now prepare the sugar syrup and soak the fried pedas in hot syrup for atleast 2 hours and serve.
