The beautiful traditional gujiyas filled with khoya and coconut, dipped in sugar syrup

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Home made khoya :
  2. Milk Powder - 1 cup
  3. Ghee - 1/4th cup
  4. Milk - 1/4 th cup
  5. Khoya coconut filling :
  6. Khoya - 1 cup Grated
  7. coconut - 1/4 th cup
  8. Sugar - 4 tbsp
  9. Elaichi powder - 1/2 tsp
  10. Outer covering :
  11. For the Dough :
  12. Maida - 1 cup
  13. Refined oil - 4 tbsp
  14. Water
  15. Salt
  16. Sugar syrup :
  17. Sugar - 1.5 cups
  18. Water - 3/4 th cup
  19. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1. Mix the milk powder, milk and ghee together to form a paste.
  2. 2. Heat this in a microwave for 3 minutes by stirring it once in every 30 seconds. This forms a thick Mawa.
  3. 3.Heat the coconut and sugar together in a nonstick pan.
  4. 4. Cook for few minutes and add the khoya and the elaichi powder.
  5. 5. Cook till it forms a thick mixture which takes about 10 minutes. Keep aside.
  6. 6. Mix the ingredients mentioned under "for dough" to form a tight dough.
  7. 7.Rest it for 10-15 minutes.
  8. 8. Make small round rotis out of the dough.
  9. 9. Put little filling inside each roti and seal the ends using little water to form a half moon.
  10. 10. Heat lots of oil and deep fry the gujiyas on a low flame. Keep aside.
  11. 11. Make a sugar syrup of two string consistency. Cool it for few minutes.
  12. 12. Dip the fried gujiyas into the sugar syrup and take them out. Serve.
