Ingredients to make Sindhi Bhatia Traditional Tari[Sweet Saffron Rice]-Meethe Chawal

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • Pinch of saffron
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • pinch lemon yellow color [edible]
  • 4 almonds chopped
  • 4 pistachios chopped
  • 1 Tsp Elachi powder

How to make Sindhi Bhatia Traditional Tari[Sweet Saffron Rice]-Meethe Chawal

  1. 1] Boil the Rice in a vessel.Do not add salt.
  2. 2]Drain the Rice when done.Do not overcook the rice.Cook till it is nearly done.
  3. 3]Transfer the rice from the vessel to a pan .Add sugar ,Saffron,Yellow Color.
  4. 4]Place a tawa under the pan and let the rice cookon a medium flame.
  5. 5]Stir occasionaly very lightly, so that the rice grain does not break.
  6. 6]When the Sugar caramalises, the rice will begin turning golden yellow in color.
  7. 7]Cook till the entire sugar is absorbed by the rice.
  8. 8]When sugar is absorbed, add elachi powder,chopped almonds and chopped pistachios.
  9. 9]Over it add piping hot melted ghee to the Tari.
  10. 10]Serve Piping hot garnished with the remaining almonds n pistachios.

My Tip:

Tari is served with Teedal[Dal made with three dals.
