Ingredients to make Venpongal with kathirikai kozthu(brinjal )

  • Venpongal
  • Raw rice 1 cup soaked
  • moong dal 1/4 cup soaked
  • cashew nuts 1 tbsp
  • To Temper
  • curry leaves 1 sprig
  • asafoetida 1/4 Tsp
  • Cumin seeds and pepper 2 tsp
  • To grind
  • ginger 1/4 inch piece
  • Green chilli 1
  • ghee /oil 4 tsp
  • water 3 cups
  • salt to taste
  • U can grind cumin seeds and pepper

How to make Venpongal with kathirikai kozthu(brinjal )

  1. In a pressure cooker add oil/ghee , add the ingredients for tempering and grind. Saute nicely.
  2. Add three cups of water and salt allow to roll boil.
  3. Add rice and dal , close the cooker. Allow five whistles and steam to settle naturally.
  4. Serve hot with Brinjal kozthu and medu Vanda.
