Ingredients to make Millet sweet dumplings(musundalu)

  • Finger millet -1/2cup,
  • Pearl millet -1/2cup,
  • all purpose flour -1cup,
  • Dry ginger powder -1/4 tsp,
  • poppy seeds - 2tsp,
  • cardamom - a pinch,
  • Grated jaggery -2cups,
  • water 1cup,
  • oil-for deep frying

How to make Millet sweet dumplings(musundalu)

  1. In a bowl add grated jaggery and mix all the ingredients to this, make a pouring consistency kind of batter suitable for dropping the dumplings.
  2. Heat oil for deep frying in a pan and when the oil is heated moderately, drop the dumplings in the oil and fry them till golden brown on a moderate flame.
  3. Fry till golden brown and remove them on a kitchen towel to drain excess oil.

My Tip:

These dumplings can be stored for a week without refrigeration. These are rich in iron as it contains jaggery and pearl millet in it. Dry ginger is very good to fight cold and cough and poppy seeds keeps the body warm in winters .
