ABOUT Millet sweet dumplings(musundalu) RECIPE

This are sweet dumplings made of finger millet,pearl millet,jaggery, poppy seeds, dry ginger powder, a pinch of cardamom. This are very healthy and aptly designed by Pattus to suit the climate of winter and the festival of Diwali falling during this season these dumplings are nutritious and the dry ginger powder fights the winter ailments like cold and cough and also constipation that occurs due to less consumption of water during winters. The poppy seeds generates heat and keeps the body warm the millers strengthens the body and are rich in iron and calcium .

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Finger millet -1/2cup,
  2. Pearl millet -1/2cup,
  3. All purpose flour -1cup,
  4. Dry ginger powder -1/4 tsp,
  5. Poppy seeds - 2tsp,
  6. Cardamom - a pinch,
  7. Grated jaggery -2cups,
  8. Water 1cup,
  9. Oil-for deep frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl add grated jaggery and mix all the ingredients to this, make a pouring consistency kind of batter suitable for dropping the dumplings.
  2. Heat oil for deep frying in a pan and when the oil is heated moderately, drop the dumplings in the oil and fry them till golden brown on a moderate flame.
  3. Fry till golden brown and remove them on a kitchen towel to drain excess oil.
