Ingredients to make Bird's Nest

  • potatoes 500 gas boiled and mashed
  • peas 1/4th cup cooked
  • ginger garlic paste 1tsp
  • coriander powder 1 1/ 2 tsp
  • Red chili powder 2 tsp or taste wise
  • Chat mascara 1/ 2tsp
  • Garam masala 1/4 tsp
  • fennel seed powder 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • amchur powder optional
  • salt to taste
  • For coating : maida 1/2 cup
  • Corn flour 2 tbsp
  • salt as required
  • Broken vermicelli 1 cup
  • oil for Deep frying

How to make Bird's Nest

  1. Mix mashed potatoes , peas , all masalas and salt.
  2. Mix well and make small equal sized balls from that mixture. Around 14 to 15 balls can be made.
  3. Mix maida, corn flour , salt with water and make a thick batter. Take vermicelli in a plate and keep it ready.
  4. Gently press the balls to give nest like shape and make gentle thumb like impression in the middle of the ball.
  5. Dip the balls in batter mixture and roll it on vermicelli coating on all sides.
  6. Rest these balls in the refrigerator for 15 mins to set.
  7. Heat oil meanwhile and deep fry the balls until golden brown in colour.
  8. Sprinkle chat masala on the nest.
  9. Serving suggested in the picture to give it a more tempting look.
