Ingredients to make Paan cake

  • flour/ Maida-1 1/2 cups
  • Baking powder-3/4 tsp
  • baking soda-1/4 tsp
  • salt-1/2 tsp
  • Unsalted Butter-1/3 cup
  • sugar-1/3 cup
  • Gulkand / rose petal Jam – 1/3 cup
  • curd-1 cup
  • rose Essence-1/4 tsp
  • Pink & green Food Colours – a few drops
  • Whipped cream
  • Sweet Paan (2)
  • Chopped pista (for decoration)
  • rose petals(for decoration)
  • Grated coconut (green colored)

How to make Paan cake

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C.
  2. Grease and dust two 7″ round pans.
  3. In a bowl mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
  4. In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.
  5. Add in the gulkand and rose essence and beat until incorporated.
  6. Now add food colour and curd and mix well.
  7. Add the flour mixture and gently fold it with a spoon or spatula until incorporated.
  8. Divide the mixture between two pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Place on wire rack and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.
  10. Now flip the cakes on the wire rack and allow it to cool completely.

My Tip:

Grind 1 sweet paan in mixer and whip some whipping cream nad add green color to it. Take some whipping cream and now add grinded paan to it. Slice the cake into 2 halves and fill this betwee the 2 halves. Now frost cake with remaining whipped cream and decorate with chopped pistachios, rose petals, grated coconut. Places a piece of paan as the topping.
