Mawa Cake

Ingredients to make Mawa Cake

  • all purpose flour 200gms or 1 1/4 Cup
  • ghee 1/4 Cup
  • condensed milk 100 ml or 1/2 Cup
  • Khoya 100gms or 1/2 Cup
  • baking powder 1 teaspoon
  • baking soda - a pinch
  • dry fruits/tutty fruits -1 tablespoon (optional)
  • cardamom powder 1/4 teaspoon

How to make Mawa Cake

  1. In a bowl whisk condensed milk, crumbled khoya and ghee. Keep it aside.
  2. In another bowl Sieve the baking powder, flour, baking soda, cardamom powder.
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and gently fold them together. Add tutti fruity or nuts and fold again.
  4. Grease a baking pan and pour the batter. Tap to remove any air bubbles.
  5. Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 180 degree centigrade for 25 minutes.
  6. Insert a toothpick in the center to check whether it is done.
  7. Cool on a rack for 10 minutes before you slice this soft spongy delicious cake.

My Tip:

I baked this cake in two pans and sandwiched with condensed milk in the middle to add to the deliciousness. You can cover the cake with foil and bake to prevent the top from browning.
