CHAKLI

Ingredients to make CHAKLI

  • 1 cup Rice flour
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp ginger greenchillies paste
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 2 - 2 1/2 tbsp of malai
  • 1 tsp oil for greasing
  • salt to taste

How to make CHAKLI

  1. In a mixing bowl put together rice flour , ginger greenchillies paste , sesame seeds , malai , salt and warm water
  2. Mix them nicely with a fork , cover and keep it aside for 15 - 20 minutes to rest
  3. In the meantime heat oil for deep frying , first on high then make it medium
  4. After 15 - 20 minutes , uncover the mixture and knead it nicely with your greased hands , until it becomes of smooth texture
  5. Now grease the chakli making machine from inside and put the dough in it , close it tightly
  6. Now take a plastic sheet and start making chaklis over it , by rotating it in circular motion , make medium size chaklis
  7. Press the ends nicely so that it doesn't open while frying
  8. Now slide slowly the chaklis in the hot oil , 5 - 6 at one time
  9. Fry on medium heat , by turning them at regular intervals , until becomes light brown and crispy
  10. When done take them out in an absorbant paper
  11. In this way make all the chaklis
  12. 34 chaklis of medium size were made from this quantity

My Tip:

You can add red chilly powder instead of green chillies if you like and a pinch of haldi for colour
