ABOUT Apoopa RECIPE

A special Deepavali South Indian sweet dish which is a perfect combination of crispy and chewy textures.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice 2 cups
  2. Jaggery 1 and 1/2 cups
  3. Khus Khus seeds 2 tbsp
  4. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak the rice for 3 days ensuring change of water every day.
  2. On the fourth day, take out the water from the rice and dry it on a white cloth. Once it is dry, powder the rice.
  3. Add the jaggery and mix it well till it forms a dough. Allow the dough to ferment for a day.
  4. Make small balls of the dough and flatten the dough and roll it out into a 2 cm thick disc.
  5. Sprinkle some khus khus on both the sides and flatten the discs further a little bit.
  6. Heat oil and fry these discs in hot oil till they turn golden brown in colour.
  7. Serve them hot for best taste.
