ABOUT chocolate paan pie RECIPE

Chocolate-biscuit with a flavour of betel in a fancy way inspired me to make this recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1/4 cup rose jam (gulkund)
  2. 1/4 cup dark chocolate
  3. 2 tbsp finely chopped or powdered cashew nuts
  4. 100 gms digestive biscuits
  5. For the filling -1/2 cup grated white chocolate
  6. 1 tbsp fresh cream
  7. 2 tsp sweet paan masala with saunf (Aniseeds)
  8. 1 tsp finely chopped betel (pan leaves)
  9. rose petals few silver balls
  10. Decoration of the platter – paan and rose petals

Instructions

  1. Grease a deep 5-6 inches flan tin (with a removable base).
  2. Put the biscuits in a bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
  3. Mix with rose jam and cashew nuts.
  4. Melt the chocolate in a heat proof bowl set over a pan of simmering water.
  5. Once the chocolate is melted, remove from the heat and add the crushed biscuit mixture, mix well to combine.
  6. Tip the mixture into the flan tin and press down well in an even layer. Set aside to cool.
  7. For the filling- Combine white chocolate and cream in a saucepan and melt over gentle heat to get a smooth mixture.
  8. Spread the mixture onto the biscuit base.
  9. Top with finely chopped betel (paan leaves), sweet paan masala with saunf, rose petals and silver balls .
  10. Refrigerate for about 5-6 hours, or until set. Once set, remove from the flan tin and cut into slices to serve.
