Crispy Chinese Garlic Tofu

Ingredients to make Crispy Chinese Garlic Tofu

  • A quarter pound or 115 grams of firmly packed tofu
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tsp ketchup
  • cornflour for dusting
  • oil to fry
  • 1 cup of chopped onion
  • 4-5 garlic pods
  • 5-6 red chillies
  • 2 tsp rice vinegar

How to make Crispy Chinese Garlic Tofu

  1. Cut the tofu to tiny pieces and coat it with cornflour and a little salt. Then fry it in oil till it's crispy.
  2. Take a pan and add some oil to heat, once hot add in the chopped onions and garlic.
  3. Fry the red chillies in oil and take a blender, then blend these chilles with garlic to form a coarse paste. Next, add this to the fried onion and garlic.
  4. Then add in the ketchup, rice vinegar and chilli paste along with the fried tofu pieces.
  5. Next, add the soy sauce and salt to taste. Mix it well and cook for 5 minutes in the pan.
  6. Serve it hot!

My Tip:

This dish goes very well with jasmine rice.
