ABOUT Vegetable Upma (South Indian Style) RECIPE

Vegetables Upma is one of the easiest breakfast that is very healthy. This is one common breakfast prepared at any South Indian's house for breakfast.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Rava 2 cups (roasted)
  2. Water 4 cups
  3. Onion 1 chopped finely
  4. Green chillies 2 chopped finely
  5. Curry leaves 1 sprig
  6. Urad dal 1 tsp
  7. Ground nuts 1 tbsp
  8. Roasted Gram or Chutney dal 1 tsp
  9. Coriander leaves for garnishing
  10. Coconut for garnishing- optional
  11. Mustard Seeds 1 tsp
  12. Oil as required
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Sugar 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add in the mustard seeds and allow them to splutter, then add in the urad dal, roasted gram, ground nut and fry until it turns light brown in color.
  2. Next, add in the onion, curry leaves, green chillies and fry until the onion turns little pink in color. Now add in the roasted rava and fry until everything is incorporated with each other.
  3. Add in the salt and sugar, then reduce the heat of the stove and pour in water slowly. Give it a mix with your hand continuously until it releases all the water and gets completely dry.
  4. Garnish with coriander leaves and coconut.
  5. Serve it hot with chutney or banana on the side.
